Messi scores brace in Inter Miami win in MLS – WATCH

New Delhi: Lionel scored two spectacular goals as Inter Miami notched up their third successive win in Major League Soccer.

Playing in their first MLS match in over a month since they were busy competing in the FIFA Club World Cup where they were trounced 4-0 by reigning European champions Paris Saint-Germain.

On Saturday, they returned to MLS duty and thumped CF Montreal 4-1 in an away game. Montreal had won two of their previous three games and taken taken a lead in the second minute.

Prince Owusu found the target as he was left unmarked and he collected the ball at the top of the box before sending the ball through goalkeeper Oscar Ustari’s legs.

But Montreal couldn’t hold on to the lead a Tadeo Allende restored parity following a pass from Messi. He received the ball at the top of the box on the right hand side before firing the ball in after taking a couple of strides.

Messi then scored with a typical mazy run to put his team ahead in the 40th minute. He recived the ball on the right side and then cut inside towards the centre of the box before curling a low shot into the bottom corner.

Miami then increased their advantage when Telasco Segovia made it 3-1 in the 60th minute, firing a shot from outside the box that grazed the underside of the crossbar and went in.

Two minutes later, Messi metted hos second of the match after controlling the ball in the midfield zone and driving towats the box, recovering after briefly losing possession and converting with a firece shot into the top of the net.
