He said, “From Indore till date, we have never ate beef. Prophet Mohammed said that cow’s milk is like mother’s milk, cows should not be killed and beef is forbidden.”
Salim Khan said that the Khan family does not make any difference in celebrating Holi, Dussehra, Diwali, Eid and Christmas, the whole family celebrates the festival with the same enthusiasm. He told that the tradition of celebrating Ganpati festival at his house has been going on since his father’s time. Although he is Muslim, his family has always adopted a liberal viewpoint.
Salim Khan said that his father was DSP (Deputy Superintendent of Police) in Indore. The colony where we lived were Hindus. All families lived in full harmony, supported each other and even ate food at each other’s house.
Salim’s family did not eat beef
In an interview with The Free Press Journal, Salim said that his family never ate beef. “We have never eaten beef from Indore till date. Most Muslims eat beef because it is the cheapest meat! Some people also buy it to feed pet dogs. But Prophet Mohammed has clearly said in his teachings that cow’s milk is the option of mother’s milk and it is a Mufid (beneficial) thing. It should not kill cows and he has said that cows should not be killed.”
