Telangana Government Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju on Thursday visited Phase-I of the Musi Riverfront Development Project and reviewed the progress of the ongoing work at key locations.

According to the official statement issued by the state government, the tour included Osmansagar, Narsingi STP site and Gandhi Sarovar Project lands. All these are important parts of the state’s integrated river rejuvenation and urban development programme.

During this field inspection, Jaju held detailed discussions with the Managing Director, Joint Managing Director of Musi Riverfront Development Corporation Limited (MRDCL), Managing Director of Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) and senior officials of other departments.

Focus on flood control and sewage treatment

The review focused on flood protection measures, integration of sewage treatment, preparation for land development and corridor-level infrastructure planning.

The Chief Secretary made future-looking strategic suggestions to ensure the long-term sustainability of the Musi Riverfront Development Project, its ecological balance and its impact on urban development. He stressed the need to work synergistically, scientifically plan and follow environmental and technical standards to provide sustainable benefits to the citizens of Hyderabad.

Suggestion of separate masterplan for Musa-Isa rivers

MRDCL and HMDA have been suggested to prepare a separate masterplan for the area between Musa and Isa rivers up to their confluence at Gandhi Sarovar, for better connectivity and sustainable urban development along the riverfront.

MRDCL will incorporate the guidance provided and continue to accelerate the work of Phase-I. (ANI)
