Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [भारत]July 9 (ANI): Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and actor C Joseph Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayakan’ has received an ‘A’ (adults only) certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), indicating that the film will finally release in theaters after a long delay. The announcement has created a wave of excitement among fans, who were eagerly waiting for the release of the film. The certification is now visible on the official site of CBFC, confirming the total length of the film to be 183 minutes. Over the past several months, Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayakan’ had previously faced delays due to certification issues.
There was a dispute regarding certification
The film was originally scheduled to release on January 9 during Pongal. The film ran into trouble when the CBFC decided to withhold its certification on the grounds that certain scenes in the film could potentially hurt religious sentiments. After this, a single judge asked CBFC to give U/A 16+ certificate to the film, which brought relief for some time. However, the CBFC later moved a division bench of the High Court, which stayed the single judge’s order on January 9. Due to this, the producers approached the Supreme Court demanding an immediate stay on the High Court’s decision.
The film was also leaked online
It also made headlines when some scenes from the film were reportedly circulated online. The makers, KVN Productions, had also released an official statement asking people not to watch or share any leaked content. The production house said that parts of the film, and in some cases almost the entire film, were illegally circulated online. He also said that strict legal action is being taken in this matter.
