Mumbai: Actor and director Kamaal R Khan, popularly known as KRK, was arrested by the Mumbai police on Friday in connection with a firing incident in Oshiwara. He was arrested after being interrogated by a Mumbai Police team in connection with a two-round firing case.
KRK was taken into custody late on Friday night for allegedly firing four rounds at the residential building in Andheri, Oshiwara in Mumbai on January 18. During the interrogation, the actor confessed that he fired shots with his licensed gun at the residential building.
Director, model live in residential building
According to officials, writer-director Neeraj Kumar Mishra lives on the second floor of the same building, while model Prateek Baid lives on the fourth floor.
Initially, it was unclear who fired the shots as nothing was found in the CCTV footage. However, the investigation revealed that the bullets were fired from Kamaal R Khan’s bungalow. The actor was taken into custody from his studio by the Oshiwara police. He later admitted that the shots were fired from his gun.
‘Was cleaning the gun, didn’t want to harm anyone’
During the interrogation, KRK confessed that he fired the shots with his licensed gun, but claimed that his intention was not to harm anyone and that he was only cleaning his gun. The actor said that there is a large forest in front of his house, where he fired the gun to test it after cleaning it.
The police have recovered KRK’s gun, which he used for the firing. The proceedings in the case are ongoing. KRK is a self-proclaimed film critic and often criticises various films and even makes derogatory remarks against Bollywood stars on social media. Kamaal R Khan was last seen in the film ‘Deshdrohi’. Besides acting, he has also worked as a producer in the film industry.
