It is completely made in India and its main objective is to help in early detection, investigation and treatment planning of breast and ovarian cancer in the country.

Big miracle of AIIMS and C-DAC
- According to a release, recently this platform was featured in an episode of ‘Digital India Ask Experts’ program. This program comes live on the YouTube channel of Digital India.
- ‘iOncology.ai’ has been specially designed keeping India in mind. This will help doctors, pathologists and radiologists use AI-powered data to make faster and evidence-based treatment decisions.
- The episode featured Lakshmi Panat, Program Director, C-DAC, Professor Ashok Sharma, Department of Biochemistry, AIIMS New Delhi and Dr. Fauzia Siraj, Scientist E and Head of Pathology, ICMR-Centre for Cancer Pathology, New Delhi.
AI’s new weapon for cancer patients
- These experts explained how digital innovations made in the country are changing the healthcare system and helping in improving accurate cancer treatment.
- According to the release, the platform has also been linked to the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) ecosystem. This will bring patients’ data onto a secure unified dashboard, which healthcare professionals can access as per their role.
- Experts emphasized that this platform will help in reducing the increasing pressure on the healthcare system. Nowadays, problems like increasing number of patients, delay in investigation and lack of medical resources are common. This platform will overcome these problems by helping in testing and making access to treatment related information easier.
Now cancer treatment will be available in villages also
- Oncologists, doctors, pathologists and AI technology experts have worked together to create this platform. Its AI model has been trained on Indian medical data, making it even more accurate.
- Features like ‘telepathology’ were also explained in the programme. With its help, access to healthcare will be improved even in remote and small districts. Specialist doctors will be able to examine and advise digitally.
Will ‘iOncology.ai’ change cancer treatment?
- The future plans of ‘iOncology.ai’ are also quite interesting. This includes working on “digital twin” technology. In a way, this will be a software model of the patient, through which it can be studied how the treatment is affecting him. Additionally, multi-omics data will also be added to it for personalized cancer treatment.
