All schools, colleges and other educational institutions have been ordered to stay closed tomorrow, i.e. September 1, 2025 (Monday) due to heavy rains, landslides and flood alert in the area.
“Due to incessant rains and landslides in hilly areas, all Government & Private Schools across Jammu Division will remain closed on 01-09-2025 (Monday) to ensure the safety of students and staff,” an official notification stated.
The order is applicable to both government and private schools across the UT.
In addition to this, due to inclement weather, the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has also postponed the private bi-annual exams for Class 10 and Class 11 Part 1. The exams were originally scheduled to be conducted today, August 27, 2025. The revised dates have not been announced yet.
“Due to unavoidable circumstances, exams for classes 10th & 11th scheduled on September 1, 2025 have been postponed in Jammu. New dates will be announced soon,” JKBOSE (BOSE Jammu) said in an official notification.
Schools and colleges in Jammu division were closed for the last week due as the region experienced continous heavy rainfall and cloudbursts, which has led to landslides and floods in the region.
The region has been experiencing heavy rainfall for over a week, which has led to mass destruction of resources, homes and has also negatively affected connectivity. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that Jammu will receive moderate to heavy rainfall, thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty winds (30-40kmph) on September 1. The same warning has been issued for September 2 also, with prediction of heavy rainfall on September 3.
