Hariyali Chicken looks just like its name suggests. Green coriander and mint are used in it which gives it green color. At the same time, whole and ground spices are used in it which work to give it a balanced taste. Hariyali chicken made in desi ghee is made in Hyderabad on special occasions like weddings etc.
Ingredients of Hariyali Chicken
You need 50 grams coriander, 100 grams mint, ginger 10 grams, green chilli 10, 20 grams garlic, 50 grams onion (roasted), cashew nuts 50 grams, 50 grams almonds, 100 grams curd, lemon 1, coriander powder 4 tbsp, 2 tsp red chilli powder, 1 tsp turmeric powder, salt as per taste, desi ghee 150 grams, 6 green Cardamom, 8 cloves, 5 large cardamoms, 2 sticks cinnamon, 1 teaspoon garam masala, 2 teaspoons green cardamom powder. These ingredients have been given for approximately 2 to 2.25 kg chicken. Now let us know the method of making it.
Hariyali Chicken Recipe
- First of all you have to finely chop the onion and then fry it on low flame until it turns golden.
- Now clean coriander and mint thoroughly, separate their thick stems and wash them.
- Now mix coriander, mint leaves, garlic, ginger, green chillies, roasted onion, cashew nuts and almond curd together in a plate.
- After blending all these things, a nice smooth paste has to be made. If needed, you can use two to three spoons of water in it.
- Now wash and clean the chicken thoroughly and then squeeze lemon juice on it and mix well.
- Hyderabadi green chicken does not have to be chopped like a normal vegetable. First you have to add coriander powder, salt, red chili powder and turmeric to the chicken.

- Now add the green spicy curd paste that you had prepared to the chicken and mix with hands so that the chicken is coated.
- Now you have to heat desi ghee in a pan and then fry the spices including green cardamom, red cardamom, cinnamon in it.
- Keep in mind to crush the cardamom so that its taste improves. After frying the spices, add this hot ghee to the marinated chicken.
- Now put a big pan on the gas and put all the chicken in it to cook. You have to cover it and cook it until it becomes soft.
- When the chicken is cooked, add garam masala and green cardamom powder to it and mix. Your Hyderabadi Hariyali Chicken is ready which you can enjoy at home.
- You can serve this Hariyali Chicken with Lachha Paratha, Rumali Roti, Naan Roti, or even rice. Its taste is amazing.
