The actor has rejected the help that comes from nepotism in the real world, but has agreed that ‘privileged people get more opportunities.
Ahead of Ahan Shetty’s return from Border 2, his father Suniel Shetty is clarifying how his own career in the entertainment industry has helped his son or how Varun Dhawan has helped him. In an interview with Peeping Moon, where he explained how his father’s restaurant industry gave him an advantage, Suniel Shetty emphasized on children taking advantage of their parents’ contacts.
Sunil Shetty does not believe in the criticisms in the acting world about ‘nepotism inspiring generation’. Speaking candidly on the continuous criticism on this issue, he said, “I don’t like the word nepotism. There is no such thing as nepotism. People will call my son a ‘nepotistic child’, but every father wants his child to do well and move forward.” He described it as ‘an important part of life’ and said how ‘generations keep moving forward’.
Highlighting his experience of running his own food business due to his father being involved in the food business, he said, “I got the opportunity to run a restaurant because my father ran a restaurant. When you are privileged, you get opportunities, but it depends on the individual how he utilizes them.”
Sunil Shetty further strengthened his claim by giving the example of Varun Dhawan, who is often commented as ‘Nepo Kid’ because of his father David Dhawan’s production career. He told that Varun helped Ahaan on the sets of ‘Border 2’.
Sunil said, “Varun talks less about his role and more about Ahaan’s role.” He tried to show that even the so-called ‘Napo kids’ are not spoiled.
Meanwhile, after a rough start with ‘Tadap’, Ahan Shetty will return to the big screen in ‘Border 2’ alongside Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan and Diljit Dosanjh. This film will be released from January 23.
