Sholay director Ramesh Sippy has turned 79. He was born on 23 January 1947 in Karachi. He is the son of famous producer GP Sippy. Sippy took charge of both producer and director. He also gave some hit films in his career.

Sita Aur Geeta was a comedy drama film released in 1972, which was directed by Ramesh Sippy. Hema Malini, Sanjeev Kumar and Dharmendra were in lead roles in the film. He was also accompanied by Manorama, Rupesh Kumar, Satyen Kappu, Honey Irani and Pratima Devi. This movie, made with a budget of Rs 40 lakh, had earned Rs 9.53 crore. Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjeev Kumar, Amjad Khan, Hema Malini and Jaya Bhaduri were in lead roles in the film. The film was made on a budget of Rs 3 crore and did a business of Rs 35 crore. This film received such love from the audience that it ran in theaters for 5 consecutive years and created history.
Shaan was a 1980 action crime film, directed by Ramesh Sippy and produced by GP Sippy under the banner of Sippy Films.
