This horrifying incident took place on Wednesday morning in the School Road area of Sodepur. As usual, movement of people was continuing on the road, when suddenly there was a scream. 45-year-old Subhash Das, who lives in a rented house on School Road in Sodepur, surrounded his 40-year-old wife Geeta Das on the way. According to eyewitnesses, the two talked for only a few seconds and suddenly Subhash took out a sharp knife from his pocket and attacked Geeta. He kept attacking Geeta’s stomach and chest one after the other. Neighbors and passers-by who were onlookers tried to stop Subhash and snatch the weapon from him, but Subhash was bleeding. The story behind this horrific murder is extremely painful and full of suspense. According to local people, Subhash and Geeta had a love marriage a few years ago. Geeta’s maternal family was strongly against this marriage, so both of them were living on rent in Sodepur, away from their families. But shortly after the marriage, Subhash’s real face was revealed. He often beat Geeta brutally. Geeta was completely fed up with this hellish relationship and had decided to separate (end the relationship) from Subhash. After brutally murdering Geeta, Subhash stabbed himself several times with the same bloody knife and tried to slit his throat with the intention of taking his own life.

Immediately after the incident, with the help of the local club president and neighbors, both of them were immediately taken to the nearby Sagar Dutta Medical College and Hospital. Doctors tried hard to save Geeta, but she died in the hospital due to excessive bleeding. At the same time, Subhash Das, the accused who tried to commit suicide, is still swinging between life and death and according to doctors, his condition is very critical.

As soon as information about the incident was received, Deputy Police Commissioner (DCP) of Barrackpore Police Commissionerate Kartik Chandra Mandal reached the spot with heavy police force. The forensic team has collected evidence from the spot. DCP Mandal has confirmed that the police have registered a case of murder in this matter and the investigation is being taken forward on the basis of some suspicious names given by the neighbors and previous police complaints.
