Shubman Gill: When Team India was busy playing T20 series with New Zealand, Shubman Gill came here to play Ranji Trophy match. But, his debut was not as was expected. Gill, who came to play for his team Punjab in the second half of Ranji Trophy, was out on zero. His account did not even open in the first innings against Saurashtra.
Saurashtra and Punjab clash in Rajkot
Saurashtra team batted first in the match being played at Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. Saurashtra’s first innings was limited to 172 runs only. Looking at Saurashtra’s low score, it seemed that Punjab would take a good lead. With the addition of Shubman Gill, the Punjab team looked even stronger. But, it did not happen as planned. Saurashtra bowlers also gave a tough test to Punjab batsmen on the pitch of Niranjan Shah Stadium.

Shubman Gill was dismissed by the Saurashtra bowler, whose best performance was of taking 7 wickets for 44 runs in 1 innings.

Shubhman Gill came to bat at number 5 against Saurashtra. But his batting story could not progress beyond 2 balls. Parth Bhoot trapped Gill in the trap of his spin and made him LBW. Shubman Gill became Parth’s second victim in the innings after Nehal Vadhera.

Only after the end of the ODI series with New Zealand, the news of Shubman Gill playing Ranji match in Rajkot came out.
