There are three hills in the river Ganga ahead of Kahalgaon Rajghat, and their beautiful view attracts people. The first hill is Shanti Baba Hill, the second is Bengali Baba Hill, and the third is Punjabi Baba Hill. Earlier it was known as Buddha Ashram, Tapas Ashram and Nanakshahi Ashram.
Mention in Puranas
In the Puranas, especially the Narad Purana, this place has been described as the penance place of sage Jahnu. According to legend, sage Jahnu drank the entire river Ganga in one go to stop its flow. Later, when the gods pleaded with him, he released Ganga from his ear. This is why ‘Janvi’ is also one of the names of Ganga.

The part of Ganga from where people reach this island is also the Vikramshila Gangetic Dolphin Sanctuary. Here dolphins can be easily seen playing in the waters of Ganga, and tourists enjoy this view very much. When the water level rises, these three rocky hills look like separate islands, while when the water level decreases, the entire area looks even more beautiful.
