According to a report, young pistol shooter Gaurav Kumar Mussoorie has been caught in a doping test. His sample has come positive in the dope test, after which he has been removed from the Asian Games squad.
In which case is Gaurav Kumar trapped?
This sensational revelation has been made in a report by The Tribune. According to this report, National Anti Doping Agency (NADA) has sent a notification of Adverse Analytical Finding (AAF) to Gaurav, who comes from Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, in which he has been informed that a banned substance has been found in his test. It has been told in the report that his sample was taken during a shooting tournament held between April-May, which was tested to contain propranolol and its related 4-hydroxy-propranolol, which prevents the heartbeat.
It has been reported in the report that after the notification was issued, the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) immediately took action and removed Gaurav Kumar Masuri from the shooting squad selected for the Asian Games 2026 to be held in Japan. Apart from this, he has also been dropped from the ISSF Shooting World Cup to be held in China. However, NADA has not yet imposed any ban on Gaurav and he is still allowed to participate in shooting tournaments, but NRAI has already taken this precautionary step to remove the possibility of any kind of danger in the games.
What did the shooter’s coach say in clarification?
Akash Bhardwaj will participate in Asian Games in place of Gaurav. Gaurav was going to participate in the 10 meter pistol event in these games. However, in this whole matter, Gaurav’s coach Shekhar Tomar has made it clear that he has sent a reply to NADA. He has also claimed that Gaurav had already disclosed in his doping control form that he had used ‘painkiller’ medicine. He has refused to test ‘B sample’ and said that he will wait for NADA’s decision.
