Yamaha may launch a new sports bike YZF-R2 in August. It will fill the gap between R15 and R3. Designed based on the R15 V4, this bike will compete with the KTM RC 200 with modern features.
New Delhi: SpoThere is a good news for RTS bike lovers. Japan’s famous two-wheeler company Yamaha can launch its new model YZF-R2 in India in August. According to reports, the company is bringing this bike to fill the gap between its existing R15 and R3. It is expected that this bike will be manufactured at the Yamaha plant in Chennai. The units manufactured here can be sold in India as well as exported to other countries.
The name became trademark in many countries
Yamaha has trademarked the YZF-R2 name in several countries such as India, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the Philippines. It is clear that the company is preparing to launch this model in many international markets.
Possibility of launching in the event of 27th August
There is speculation that the YZF-R2 could be officially unveiled at a special Yamaha event on August 27. Nmax 155 scooter is also expected to be launched in the same event. However, the YZF-R2 is being talked about the most.
The design will be based on the R15 V4
It is expected that the design of the new YZF-R2 will be inspired by Yamaha’s R15 V4. This means that the bike can get a strong frame structure and excellent control at high speed. Talking about suspension, it can be given USD (Upside Down) forks at the front and monoshock suspension at the rear. For safety, there is every possibility of getting dual-channel ABS with disc brakes at the front and rear.
You will get modern features
According to reports, to improve the performance of the bike, it will be provided with VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) technology. Apart from this, features like traction control, quick shifter and assist and slipper clutch are also expected to be available. Features like side-stand engine cut-off and wide rear tire will further enhance the safety and stability of the bike.
Direct competition with RC 200
When launched in the Indian market, Yamaha YZF-R2 will compete directly with sports bikes like KTM RC 200. The company aims to attract young customers through strong performance, modern technology and sporty design.
