Why is every minute so dangerous in stroke?
According to doctors, about 1.9 billion brain cells are destroyed every minute during a stroke. If treatment is received late, it becomes difficult for the patient to survive or he may become disabled forever. The mobile stroke unit has reduced the treatment time from about 24 hours to just 2 hours. This is its biggest strength. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has handed over two such mobile stroke units to the Assam government.
