What things will be needed to make fennel syrup?

Fennel (coarse) – 1 cup (about 100 grams)

– Mishri or sugar – 2 cups (mishri is cooler)

– Cardamom- 8 or 10

– Black salt – 1 tablespoon

– Black pepper – half teaspoon

– Water- for soaking and grinding

– Ice cubes- as per need

How to make fennel syrup

First of all, wash the fennel thoroughly so that the dust present in it gets cleaned. Then soak it in 2 cups of water for at least 3 to 4 hours. If you have time, you can keep it soaked overnight. After this, put the soaked fennel with the same water in the mixer. Also add cardamom and black pepper to it. Grind it until it becomes like a very fine paste. After the paste is ready, filter it thoroughly through a fine sieve or cotton cloth. After filtering, add some water to the thick part left and grind it again in the mixer and filter it. After making the paste, add sugar candy or sugar and 1 cup of water in a pan or pot. Heat it on low flame. When sugar candy or sugar dissolves, add fennel water to it. Cook this entire paste on low flame for about 10-12 minutes. After cooking, add black salt last and mix well. After the prepared sherbet cools down, fill it in a clean glass bottle and keep it in the refrigerator. It will not spoil for 2 months and you will be able to get relief from the heat by drinking this sherbet comfortably throughout the summer.

How to serve it

Whenever you serve fennel syrup to someone, add 2-3 spoons of prepared fennel syrup in a glass. Add cold water and lots of ice to it. If you like lemon then you can also add juice of half lemon and fresh mint leaves in it. Then mix it well and serve.
