Kiran Verma booked delivery on ‘Porter’ app to send a letter urgent in Noida for Rs 40. After some time, an elderly man arrived to take delivery. This was Manoj. Kiran was on the first floor, he asked Manoj to come up. Despite physical discomfort, Manoj climbed the stairs. Kiran offered him water, but he politely refused and took the packet with a smile.
While leaving, Manoj said, ‘There was no work today, I was just waiting for this one delivery’. These words of his touched Kiran’s heart. Seeing his good attire and polite nature, Kiran called him inside and made him sit. The story that came out in the conversation was surprising. Manoj has worked for 14 years in the administration department of a big company like Tata AIG Life Insurance. But when the company conducted mass layoffs in 2023, he also lost his job.
