IND vs NZ 1st T20I: During Abhishek Sharma’s explosive batting in the first T20 match against New Zealand, one over of Glenn Phillips was entirely in Abhishek’s name. During this match at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur, the team of New Zealand had to suffer a lot due to three misfields in the same over by the New Zealand fielders. In terms of fielding, the New Zealand team is one of the best teams in the world. But something different was seen in this match.
Kiwi team forgot to field
This poor fielding from New Zealand was seen during the 8th over of Team India’s innings. When Abhishek Sharma was scoring runs at a very fast pace. Then Glenn Phillips took command of the bowling and started bowling the very first ball around the off stump, but Abhishek adopted an aggressive style and played on the backfoot and shot towards long-off. Fielder Christian Clarke tried to stop it, but gave away four runs due to misfield.
Again a four was hit on the fourth ball of this over, where the ball went straight towards Christian Clarke, but he left it out of his hands and Abhishek scored four runs. The ball swung left and right at the last moment, due to which he dodged. Even on the last ball of this over, Team India got a four due to misfield. Actually, the wicketkeeper failed to catch the ball, due to which Team India got 4 more runs with a wide.
Abhishek Sharma played a stormy innings
These three misfields in just one over proved costly for New Zealand, because Abhishek’s innings intensified in this period and he scored 84 runs in 35 balls, which included 8 sixes and 5 fours. These shortcomings of New Zealand’s fielding proved helpful in helping India reach a big score, where the team scored a huge score of 238 in 20 overs.
