The court has dealt a blow to a man who left his high-paying job in Singapore to avoid paying maintenance to his wife. Condemning her irresponsible decision, the court has ordered her to pay alimony of around Rs 4 crore.
In cases of family disputes and divorce, many husbands leave their well-paid jobs to avoid paying alimony to their wives. One such case is of a Canadian man.
A Canadian man, who was working on a high salary in Singapore, left his job and returned home to save the family expenses. Now the court has ordered him to repay Rs 4 crore.
This person used to earn more than Rs 6 crore annually in a multinational company. In August 2023, he left the family and started living with another woman, after which the wife asked for maintenance.
Initially, the husband had promised to pay his wife Rs 14 lakh every month along with children’s fees and house rent. But he left the job when his wife asked for maintenance.
The court has ordered the man to pay about Rs 4 crore as outstanding payment from September 2023 to September 2025. Now both the parents will have to contribute equally towards the expenses.
The husband’s lawyer argued that the wife spends a lot of money on expensive holidays and treatment. But the judge said that the father cannot run away from his financial responsibilities.
