The 77th Republic Day will witness an unprecedented display of India’s strategic might in Delhi when the DRDO-developed Long-Range Anti-Ship Hypersonic Glide Missile will be showcased for the first time. This missile is being designed keeping in mind the requirements of the Indian Navy and its biggest feature is its hypersonic speed, due to which enemy radars fail to detect it. This missile, with a range of about 1500 kilometers, is capable of carrying different types of payloads and can target enemy warships deployed in the sea. According to DRDO, this technology will further strengthen India’s strategic position in the Indian Ocean region. The presence of this missile in the Republic Day parade is being considered as a clear indication of India’s increasing defense capability, technological self-reliance and future war preparedness.
