Godrej Agrovet is setting up the state’s first private palm oil complex in Khammam, Telangana by investing ₹300 crore. This will provide employment to more than 700 people. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has directed to widen the roads for the project.

Hyderabad (Telangana) [भारत] July 8 (ANI): Godrej Agrovet will set up Telangana’s first private integrated palm oil industry complex in Khammam district with an investment of Rs 300 crore.

According to a release from Telangana CMO, representatives of Godrej Industries Group met Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and submitted a report on the expansion of oil palm cultivation in the district.

Investment of ₹300 crore, employment to more than 700

Rakesh Swamy, President (Corporate Affairs), Godrej Industries Group, and Saugata Niyogi, CEO, Palm Oil Business, Godrej Agrovet, met the CM and informed him about the upcoming project at Gubbagurthi village in Konijerla mandal of Khammam district. “This project by Godrej Agrovet is setting up a palm oil processing unit at Gubbagurthi village in Konijerla mandal of Khammam district with an investment of Rs 300 crore. This unit will provide employment to more than 700 local people,” the release said.

Full support to the project from the government

It further said that the state government has already allotted 113.5 acres of land to Godrej Agrovet to set up a processing unit, a nursery, R&D center and a seed garden.

The release said that during the meeting, company representatives requested the CM to allocate additional 35 to 40 acres of land for the seed garden. “On the request of the company, the Chief Minister directed officials to widen the roads leading to the processing unit under the supervision of TGIIC,” according to the release.

Target to reduce dependence on oil imports

The project is part of an initiative to expand palm oil cultivation in the state and build processing capacity locally. This integrated complex will include a processing unit, nursery, R&D center and seed garden.

The release said that once operations begin, road connectivity work will be carried out under the supervision of TGIIC to ensure smooth movement to the Gubbagurthi facility. Telangana wants to promote palm oil as an alternative crop and reduce dependence on edible oil imports. (ANI)
