The treasury of the Board of Control for Cricket in India is increasing by thousands of crores every year. The world’s biggest T20 tournament, the Indian Premier League (IPL), has played a big role in this and it is continuing. The 19th season of IPL is going to start in March and before that once again many companies want to be associated with BCCI, especially for IPL. BCCI has made one such tremendous deal with Google, one of the world’s largest technology companies. The Indian Board has made this deal with Google’s artificial intelligence platform ‘Gemini’.
In a PTI report quoting a BCCI official, this blockbuster deal has been revealed. According to this, Google Gemini will be the AI sponsor of the league for the next 3 IPL seasons. BCCI official described this deal as the increasing global importance of IPL. It is being told that the total price of this 3 year deal is Rs 270 crore. That means the Indian Board will get Rs 90 crore every year from Google.
This deal between Google and BCCI is important in view of the increasing use of ‘AI’ on every front in the last few years across the world and its big role in cricket analysis. Let us tell you that this is not the first partnership of the Indian Board regarding AI. The most famous AI platform and Google’s biggest rival OpenAI’s ‘ChatGPT’ is playing the role of an important sponsor in the current season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL 2026).
Apart from cricket analysis, both these AI platforms are also being used extensively by common users in India. That is why both these big companies are spending huge amounts of money to strengthen their reach among Indian cricket fans. Overall, it is raining money in BCCI’s coffers.
Talking about the tournament, the new season of IPL will start after the T20 World Cup 2026. The World Cup will be organized in India and Sri Lanka from 7 February to 8 March. After this, IPL 2026 will start from 26th March and will continue till 31st May. The auction for the new season has already taken place but its schedule has not been released yet. However, it is likely to be announced in the month of February.
