Lucknow. The National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), operated across the state on the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is bringing a big change in the lives of rural women. This scheme not only provides financial assistance to women, but also moves them towards self-employment and self-reliance. Training, financial support and direct market linkages form the strong foundation of this initiative. The success of Ritu from Bijnor district is an inspiring example of this change.

The journey from a life of struggle to self-reliance

Ritu, a resident of village Firozpur Narottam in Devmal block of Bijnor district, earlier depended on her husband’s daily wages. Due to limited and uncertain income, it became difficult to manage the family expenses. There was always concern about the future. Joining Lakshmi Self Help Group in the year 2022 proved to be the turning point of his life.

Got courage to move forward through training and support

Under the National Rural Livelihood Mission, Ritu received entrepreneurship training, savings and loan facilities and continuous guidance to start a business. The aim of Yogi government is that rural women should stand on their feet with self-respect. This thinking gave Ritu the confidence to move forward.

‘Vidur Cafe’ started with limited resources

Ritu started ‘Vidur Cafe’ with the help of Livelihood Mission. It started on a small scale, but hard work and proper guidance made it successful. Today Ritu is earning Rs 6 to 7 thousand per day. Those who were once unable to manage the household expenses, today are confidently fulfilling the responsibilities of the family and making plans for the future.

Other women of the village also got employment

Ritu’s success was not limited to her family only. She also provided employment to other women of the village through her café. This strengthened the feeling of self-reliance among the women in the village and positive changes were seen in the social environment.

Got respect and recognition from self-help group

Ritu says that after joining the self-help group, she got training, opportunities and respect. Women are now getting respectable employment in the villages instead of going out for work. Yogi government’s schemes showed them the way to move forward.

Rural women are becoming partners of change

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, rural women of the state are now becoming partners in change. Through the National Rural Livelihood Mission, the government is empowering women economically by connecting them with self-employment. Stories like Ritu’s prove that self-reliance in Uttar Pradesh is no longer just a plan but a reality on the ground.
