UAE Launches Online Appointments for Indian Passport, Visa and Attestation Services

Indian nationals in the UAE can now book online appointments for passport, visa and attestation services, ending the uncertainty that followed the shift to direct consular operations earlier this month.

The Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General of India in Dubai have introduced the new booking system to manage heavy demand while they temporarily provide services themselves. The change follows delays in onboarding a new outsourcing agency after the previous contract expired.

Walk-In Services Still Available

Those without appointments can still visit both Indian missions between 9:00 am and 11:00 am, although authorities say appointment holders will receive priority.

Emergency cases, including passport documentation for newborns and emergency certificates, will continue to be handled on a priority.

Applicants with confirmed bookings can enter 15 minutes before their scheduled appointment. To reduce crowding, only the applicant will be allowed inside, except for minor children, who must be accompanied by both parents.

Where to Book Appointments

Appointments can now be booked through the official online portal for Indian consular services in the UAE.

For Abu Dhabi applicants:

  • Passport and consular services: Main Gate, Al Safarat Street
  • Document delivery and consular queries: Consular Wing, Guardian Tower, Al Ishirah Street

For Dubai applicants:

  • Passport and visa services: Gate No. 2
  • Attestation, document collection and labour-related services: Gate No. 1

Carry Complete Documents

Indian missions have urged applicants to arrive with completed forms and all supporting documents to avoid delays.

Passport applicants should:

  • Complete the application online before visiting.
  • Upload photographs, signatures or thumb impressions against a plain white background.
  • Carry the exact cash amount for passport or consular fees, based on the revised fee structure effective from 1 July 2026.

One trend is becoming hard to ignore. Indian missions overseas are increasingly adopting digital appointment systems while keeping limited walk-in access, balancing convenience with the realities of high demand.

Why Indian Missions Are Handling Services Directly

The temporary arrangement began after the contracts with former outsourcing agency BLS expired, while the appointment of Alhind Tours & Travels LLC has been delayed.

The transition remains on hold after unsuccessful bidders challenged the contract award in the Delhi High Court, alleging irregularities in the technical evaluation process. Until the legal process is resolved, the Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate in Dubai will continue handling passport, visa and attestation services directly.

For Indian passport holders living in or travelling through the UAE, booking an appointment before visiting the mission is now the quickest way to avoid long queues.

Travelobiz Take

We think the online appointment system is a practical step for Indian applicants in the UAE. I would still recommend booking early, carrying complete documents, and keeping cash ready to avoid unnecessary delays.
