India’s ICC Champions Trophy 2025 victory brought emotional celebrations at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday night.
One of the most heartwarming moments was Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma hugging Indian captain Rohit Sharma after the team’s four-wicket win over New Zealand in the final.
As the Men in Blue celebrated their historic triumph, Rohit’s wife, Ritika Sajdeh, and their daughter, Samaira, waited near the dugout. After celebrating with his teammates, Rohit made his way to them, lifting his daughter in his arms and sharing a heartfelt moment. Anushka, who was watching the scene, called out to Rohit and gave him a tight hug to congratulate him. The moment quickly went viral on social media, putting an end to speculation about tensions between Rohit and Virat Kohli or rumors of a cold equation between Anushka and Ritika.
With this victory, Rohit and Kohli have now won the most ICC titles among Indian players, securing four each. Kohli was part of the teams that won the 2011 ODI World Cup, ICC Champions Trophy in 2013 and 2025, and the 2024 T20 World Cup. Rohit’s achievements include the 2007 T20 World Cup, Champions Trophy in 2013 and 2025, and the 2024 T20 World Cup. Kohli also led India to victory in the 2008 ICC U19 World Cup.
Rohit played a crucial role in the final, scoring 76 off 83 deliveries to help India chase down New Zealand’s target of 252. His performance earned him the Player of the Final award. Speaking after the match, Rohit expressed his satisfaction with the team’s effort throughout the tournament.
“We played some really good cricket. To come out here and get the result in our favor is a great feeling. I am very happy with how we played,” Rohit said.
At 37, Rohit has adopted an aggressive batting approach that has shaped India’s innings. He acknowledged that this playing style is not natural to him but credited the support of the team and management for allowing him to take on this role.
“It is not natural to me, but I really wanted to do it. When you try something different, you need the backing of the team and management. They have supported me throughout, including in the ODI World Cup. Rahul bhai and now Gauti bhai have been on board with this approach,” he said.
