Afghanistan vs West Indies, 1st T20I: Preparations of all the teams for T20 World Cup 2026 have started. Almost every team is practicing for the match by playing against each other. The T20 series started between Afghanistan and West Indies is also a part of the same series, the first match of which was played in Dubai on 19 January. In this match, Afghanistan defeated West Indies by 38 runs and took a 1-0 lead in the series. The most important role in defeating West Indies was played by Ibrahim Zadran, who comes from a place in Afghanistan which was once half destroyed by the rain of 45 missiles.
When 45 missiles rained on Jadran’s home town
Now you might be wondering where Ibrahim Zadran belongs to in Afghanistan? His home is in Khost, which is a small town 150 kilometers from Kabul. In 1988, when Al Qaeda attacked the African embassy, 45 missiles were fired in the same Khost area. Half of Khost was destroyed due to missile attack. Even after the Soviet Union left Afghanistan, Khost remained Osama’s base.
Zadran played a big role in defeating West Indies
Ibrahim Zadran not only played the tambourine of Afghanistan’s victory against West Indies in the first T20I of the series but also broke two big records. In this work he also got full support from his fellow player Darvis Rasooli. The most important thing is that both these players played the biggest innings of their career in the first T20I against West Indies. The result was that Afghanistan, batting first, scored 181 runs for 3 wickets in 20 overs.
Ibrahim Zadran broke Mohammad Shahzad’s record
Ibrahim Zadran remained unbeaten till the end and scored 87 runs in 56 balls. His innings, played at a strike rate of 155.35, included 8 fours and 3 sixes. This is the biggest score of Ibrahim Zadran’s T20I career. Apart from this, this is also the fourth consecutive half-century scored by his bat in T20 International. With this, he became the player with the highest number of 14 half-centuries in T20 International for Afghanistan. In this matter he has broken the record of Mohammad Shahzad.
Made record of biggest partnership
Apart from Zadran, Darvis Rasooli also made the highest score of his T20 International by playing an inning of 84 runs in 59 balls, which included 8 fours and 2 sixes. Rasooli along with Zadran made a partnership of 162 runs for the third wicket, which is the biggest partnership for this wicket by Afghanistan in T20 International. In this case, he broke the record of partnership of Asghar Afghan and Hazratullah Zazai.
