Renewable energy, battery storage and hybrid energy models were discussed between Madhya Pradesh and Amara Raja Group during WEF 2026 in Davos. Possibilities of cooperation were explored on Morena Battery Project, 24-hour solar energy and pumped storage policy.

During the World Economic Forum (WEF)-2026 in Davos, Madhya Pradesh’s New and Renewable Energy Minister Shri Rakesh Shukla and Additional Chief Secretary Shri Manu Srivastava had a detailed discussion on renewable energy, energy storage and battery based solutions with Shri Jai Galla, Co-Founder, Chairman and Managing Director of Amara Raja Group.

Focus on renewable energy integration and future needs

The meeting discussed possible collaboration for better integration of renewable energy in the state and meeting future energy requirements. Both sides shared a common vision towards developing clean and sustainable energy solutions.

Information about battery storage project operated in Morena

During the discussion, Amara Raja Group received information about the progress of energy storage projects in Madhya Pradesh. Additional Chief Secretary Shri Manu Srivastava informed that a major battery storage project is being operated in Morena area of ​​Northern Madhya Pradesh. Through this project, at present power supply is being ensured for two hours in the evening peak time and two hours in the early morning.

Long term strategy of 24 hour renewable energy

Additional Chief Secretary Shri Srivastava shared the state’s long-term strategy to provide 24-hour renewable energy. He informed that concrete steps are being taken towards 24-hour solar power generation through integrated battery storage solutions. He clarified that all future renewable energy projects are being planned with storage components, which is fully supported by the state’s progressive renewable energy policy.

Discussion on pumped storage and hybrid energy models

Efforts to diversify energy storage technologies were also discussed in the meeting. It was told that pumped storage policy is being prepared in the state and dialogue is going on with private developers in this matter. Along with this, the possibilities of hybrid energy models like hydroelectric-solar and thermal-solar combination are also being evaluated, whose cost and technical aspects are being studied.

Agreement on further action plan and cooperation

Both sides agreed to maintain continuous dialogue to exchange detailed data related to the projects, evaluate various technological options and explore opportunities for possible cooperation in energy storage and advanced battery solutions in line with the Clean Energy Roadmap of Madhya Pradesh. This meeting reflects Madhya Pradesh’s commitment towards building a future-ready energy ecosystem based on renewable energy, energy storage integration and long-term sustainable development.
