Former Pakistan cricketers Basit Ali and Kamran Akmal even compared Shubman Gill with the captaincy of Shan Masood.
Is the damage to Gill serious?
Basit Ali said in a YouTube channel show that Shubhman Gill Has given captaincy like Shan Masood. Basit Ali said that when New Zealand was in trouble, instead of putting pressure on them, Gill put Nitish Reddy on the bowling. While Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja were in his team. Basit Ali said, ‘A captain has to control the game. When the initial wickets have fallen, specialist bowlers should be put into attack. If he had got one more wicket at that time, New Zealand would not have been able to score more than 250 runs. Gill is not working properly under captaincy. ‘
‘Gil should learn captaincy’
Basit said that Gill will have to move forward on his own. He said, ‘One should not pay attention to the messages received from outside. I used to tell him – ‘Go to school and learn captaincy.’ Basit further said, ‘If Kuldeep had got a wicket even after hitting two sixes, it would have been a victory for him. But he was removed after just three overs and was brought back when the partnership between Mitchell and Phillips had crossed 150 runs. It seems that the captain does not trust Kuldeep and Jadeja.
‘Gautam Gambhir also made a mistake’
Basit Ali also put the responsibility on Gautam Gambhir and claimed that he had chosen the batting order wrong. He said, ‘Gambhir likes the combination of left-right-handed batsmen in T20 cricket, so why did he send right-handed batsmen to bat with Kohli when left-arm spinner Jayden Lennox was bowling?
