School holidays September 2025: In the month of September this year, many big religious and cultural festivals will be celebrated, which will also have a direct impact on the school holidays. When is Onam: 4 and 5 September
Onam is celebrated with great pomp, especially in Kerala and South India. This festival, which is in memory of Lord Mahabali, is organized by Pukkalam (Flower Decoration), Vallakali (boat race) and traditional banquet Onsadya. In these two days, schools will have holidays and children will be able to participate in cultural activities.
When is Eid-e-Milad: 5 and 6 September
Immediately after Onam, the big festival of the Muslim community Eid-e-Milad will be celebrated. This festival is celebrated on the birthday of Prophet Hazrat Mohammed. These days there will be processions, special namaz and religious events. Schools can remain closed in states like Delhi, UP, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
Navratri Establishment Date 2025: 22 September
Navratri, the festival of devotion to Maa Durga, will begin on the third week of September. It will begin on September 22 with Kalash establishment and Devi Pujan. Especially in North India, there is a holiday of schools on this day so that the family can participate in religious rituals.
Durga Puja: 29 and 30 September
Durga Puja will have a grand start in the last week of September. Mahashtami on 29 September and Mahanavami, Mahashtami will be celebrated on 30 September. There will be schools holidays in West Bengal, Assam, Odisha and Tripura these days. The decoration of the pandals, the tune of Dhaka and the cultural programs make this festival special.

September 2025 School holiday list
- September 5 (Friday)-On this day both Teacher’s Day and Milad-un-Nabi are falling. Therefore, schools will remain closed across the country.
- September 17 (Wednesday)- On this day, the festival of Onam will be celebrated, especially in Kerala and adjoining states, due to which there will be a holiday in schools. Also, Vishwakarma Puja will be held on this day in many states, so there will be holidays there too.
- September 21 (Sunday)- Schools will remain closed in Telangana and parts of South India on the occasion of Batukamma festival.
- September 22 (Monday)- Mahalaya, Durga Puja and Navratri will begin on this day. In many states, the school will be announced to be closed on this occasion.
- September 29 (Monday)- Durga Puja Saptami will be celebrated on this day and there will be a holiday in schools.
- September 30 (Tuesday)- Schools will be closed on the day of Durga Puja Ashtami. That is, children will get two consecutive days of leave.
- School students and parents are advised to check these holidays in your school calendar and your state holiday list. Some changes are possible in this.
