Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu has streamlined land allocation for several projects that were stuck due to lack of coordination between various departments. This has cleared the way for important projects related to security, health, education and environment.
New Delhi [भारत]July 8 (ANI): In a major move to boost public infrastructure and urban services in the national capital, Lieutenant Governor (LG) of Delhi Taranjit Singh Sandhu on Wednesday streamlined land allotment for several long-pending projects that were stuck due to lack of coordination between various departments. This intervention of the LG is a result of continuous reviews and subsequent directions, aimed at ensuring seamless cooperation between the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and other stakeholder agencies. The move has paved the way for important projects in security, health, education and environmental management.
Security infrastructure will be strengthened
According to a press release, the security infrastructure of the capital will see a significant revamp, with land allotted for new police stations in Dilkusha Bagh, Sagarpur, Suyurpur and Kishangarh. Additionally, land has been earmarked for a Forensic Science Laboratory at Narela and Intelligence Bureau (IB) stations at Dhirpur and Tahirpur. Staff accommodation for the judiciary in Rohini and Shahdara has also been speedily approved.
Urban services will expand
Under urban services, the LG has approved the allotment of 20 hectares of land for a metro depot at Sanoth and 16 hectares for a casting yard at Narela to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). To deal with the city’s water and waste challenges, the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has been issued approval for 151 borewells, as well as land for sewage treatment plants (STPs) at eight locations. Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has been allotted 24 fixed compactor transfer station sites and additional land for expansion of waste-to-energy and bio-methanization facilities in Ghazipur.
Emphasis on community welfare and environment also
LG has also prioritized community welfare and environmental sustainability. Notable allocations include 8.5 hectares for an e-waste eco management park at Holambi Kalan, as well as NOCs for 112 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs and five Atal canteens. Land has also been provided for community halls for sub-registrar offices in Dwarka and Mangalapuri.
Education sector got a big boost
In the education sector, the education hub in Narela has received a major boost, with land allotted to premier institutions including Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) (22.43 acres), Delhi Technological University (DTU) (12.69 acres) and Central Sanskrit University. Additionally, 4.1 acres of land has been sanctioned for a Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Jwalapuri, along with land for schools in Shalimar Bagh and Karawal Nagar. (ANI)
