BTS free concert: Speculation around a free BTS concert has taken over social media, sending ARMYs across the world into a full-blown frenzy. As the countdown begins for BTS’ long-awaited comeback album Arirang, rumours suggesting a surprise, no-ticket performance in Seoul have sparked excitement, curiosity and plenty of questions.
While fans dream of a historic open-air show, BTS’ agency has finally addressed the buzz.
Will BTS organise a free concert for ARMYs?
On January 19, Big Hit Music responded to reports claiming that BTS might perform for free at Gwanghwamun Square. Speaking to Newsen, the agency clarified, “We are currently discussing it, and an official announcement will be made once the location and schedule are finalised.” The statement stopped short of confirming the concert, but it also didn’t shut the door on the possibility. For fans, that alone was enough to keep hopes alive.
Adding fuel to the rumours, reports suggest that Big Hit Music has applied to South Korea’s National Heritage Administration for permission to film at several iconic sites in Seoul. These locations reportedly include Gwanghwamun Square, Gyeongbokgung Palace, and the Sungnyemun Gate area. The request is expected to be reviewed by the Cultural Heritage Committee at 2 PM on January 20. If approved, it could signal a visually striking and culturally rich BTS event ahead of their comeback.
BTS’ upcoming album ARIRANG
The buzz arrives just weeks before BTS return with Arirang, their fifth full-length studio album, scheduled for release on March 20, 2026. The 14-track record marks their first full-group album since completing mandatory military service. Inspired by Korea’s iconic folk song, Arirang reflects themes of heritage, unity and emotional resilience. The album artwork has already been revealed, and the comeback was officially announced during a Weverse live on January 1, setting the tone for a massive global rollout under HYBE.
Fan excitement has only grown stronger since pre-orders opened on January 16. Reports suggest that initial stocks sold out rapidly, underlining the scale of anticipation around the release. Whether or not the rumoured free concert becomes reality, the momentum behind Arirang is undeniable.
BTS World Tour 2026
Following the album launch, BTS will kick off a world tour on April 9 at Goyang Stadium. The tour spans 34 cities and 79 shows, making it the largest K-pop tour to date. Stops include Tokyo, Paris, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Bangkok, Singapore, Sydney and Hong Kong, with additional dates expected.
