Uttar Pradesh government will set up two centers of excellence under the Green Hydrogen policy and will provide financial assistance to startups for 5 years. The aim of Yogi government is to make UP a major center of green energy technology by reducing the cost.
Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh government has started work on its action plan regarding green hydrogen. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state government is going to give a new direction to the research, innovation and startup ecosystem under the Green Hydrogen Policy. The aim of the government is to make Uttar Pradesh the green energy technology hub of the country by reducing the cost of green hydrogen.
Two centers of excellence will be built in the state
Under this scheme, two centers of excellence will be established in Uttar Pradesh. Their main objective is to develop technologies related to production, storage, transportation and use of green hydrogen, so that the cost can be minimized. These centers will be established through reputed educational institutions of the country.
Research work will be focused on the needs of the industry
The research work conducted in the Center of Excellence will be directly in line with the demands and requirements of the industries. The government will provide 100 percent financial assistance to these centres. A maximum assistance of Rs 50 crore will be provided for each centre, so that state-of-the-art laboratories and testing facilities can be developed.
UP plays important role in net zero target of 2070
India has set a target of net zero carbon emissions by the year 2070. Uttar Pradesh is moving towards playing an effective role in achieving this national goal. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state is rapidly emerging as a manufacturing center for green hydrogen technology.
State’s first green hydrogen plant started in Gorakhpur
As a major achievement in the direction of green hydrogen, the state’s first green hydrogen plant in Gorakhpur district has been inaugurated by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. It is estimated that this plant will reduce carbon emissions by about 500 tons. Apart from this, many other schemes related to green hydrogen are also in the pipeline in the state.
Green hydrogen startups will get support for 5 years
Startups have also been given special incentives under the Green Hydrogen Policy. Startups related to green hydrogen will be given financial assistance of maximum Rs 25 lakh every year for 5 years. The condition is that the concerned startup should be associated with the incubator of a recognized educational institution. This will provide research based entrepreneurship opportunities to the youth and new technology will be available to the industries.
