  • 2 medium sized raw mangoes (grated)
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 1 tsp urad dal (optional)
  • 8-10 curry leaves
  • 2 dried red chillies
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • ¼ tsp turmeric
  • ½ tsp fenugreek powder
  • salt as per taste
  • a pinch of asafoetida
  • 1 tsp jaggery

How to make Raw Mango Thokku in 5 minutes?

  1. If you want to make South Indian style raw mango pickle, then first take sour and raw mangoes.
  2. Now heat sesame oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds in it. When the mustard seeds start crackling, add urad dal, dry red chilli, asafoetida, curry leaves as per your choice and fry for a few seconds.
  3. After this you can also add garlic pieces. If you don’t like garlic, avoid it.
  4. Now add turmeric, red chilli powder, fenugreek powder and spices to the oil and stir on low flame for a few seconds so that their flavor gets absorbed into the oil.
  5. If you want, you can also add spices to grated curry. After this, put raw mango in oil and stir for 3 minutes and add salt as per taste.
  6. When the mango becomes slightly soft and the spices mix well, turn it off. Once the mango pickle cools down, you can fill it in a glass jar and keep it in the refrigerator and use it for a long time.
