How does your phone read QR Code?

When you place or show your mobile camera or QR Scanner on a QR Code, the camera takes its picture. The mobile software first recognizes the 3 big square boxes (Finder Patterns) of the QR Code. These boxes tell in which direction the code is placed. After this the mobile reads other small black and white boxes. Every box contains digital information, which the software understands by converting it into 0 and 1 (Binary Data). Within a few seconds, the mobile understands what data is in the QR Code and accordingly opens the website, shows the payment screen or brings other information to you.

How does so much information come in QR Code?

QR Code consists of thousands of small boxes. Each box is part of a digital pattern. Information is stored with the help of these patterns. The great thing is that even if a small part of the QR Code gets damaged, it can still be scanned easily. This is because it has Error Correction Technology, which helps in reading even incomplete information correctly to a great extent.
