The postmortem report has brought a new twist in the case of rape and murder of a student preparing for NEET in Patna. It is clear in the report that the student was raped for two hours. There are many injuries on the private parts, due to which it is also feared that there could be more than one rapist.
Apart from this, deep injuries and nail marks on the body testify that the victim fought till her last breath to save her life.
It is noteworthy that the student died on January 11. Initially the police was calling it suicide. Sexual assault was also denied. Whereas the family was alleging rape from the beginning. After the post mortem report confirmed rape, the police is now investigating from that angle. The examination conducted by the medical board of Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) found serious injuries on the student’s body. ‘Crescent nail abrasions’ (deep wounds made by nails) were found on the neck and shoulders, which are evidence of efforts to rescue the victim.
What else in the post mortem report
Multiple scratch marks were found below the chest and shoulders which indicate prolonged pressing or rubbing. Bruises (blue marks) on the back indicate that he was dragged. Doctors believe that these injuries do not correspond to consensual relations, but are the result of forced relations. student’s
‘Injury on private part, heavy bleeding’
According to the report, there were deep injuries and abrasion marks on the private parts of the student, which caused a lot of bleeding. Marks of struggle on other parts of the body indicate that the student was conscious and resisting. Although bleeding may have affected some forensic samples, the injuries suggested that she was forced. Doctors say that if the relationship had been consensual in any way, such internal and external injuries would not have been found together. The exact cause of death is still unclear, so the viscera has been preserved.
Investigation is being done as per postmortem report: SSP
Patna SSP Karthikeya Sharma said, ‘The evidence has been found so far. What has come in the postmortem report. We are investigating accordingly. Some more evidence still needs to be collected. The FSL team had taken some samples, their investigation is still pending. The mobile phone of the deceased is being sent for forensic examination so that if any video has been deleted, it can be recovered.
He said, ‘We are expanding the scope of investigation and investigating different aspects. CCTV footage has been taken of the student’s arrival on the 5th and till her departure. SIT has been formed under the leadership of ASP Sadar Abhinav.
DGP formed SIT, IG Jitendra Rana will investigate
DGP Vinay Kumar has taken cognizance of the rape case with the student. A higher level SIT has been formed. Zonal IG Patna Jitendra Rana has been instructed to investigate. The SIT includes 7 people including Sadar ASP Abhinav, Secretariat SDPO 1 Dr Anu, Secretariat SDPO 2 Saket Kumar, Jakkanpur SHO Rituraj Singh and Kadamkuan SHO Janmejay Rai and a woman officer. At the same time, SHO Patrakar Nagar Roshni Kumari has been kept away.
