Why is DMK afraid of Karur? Minister’s sharp attack on CM Vijay’s visit. DMK Trying To Block CM Vijays Karur Visit Says Minister Nirmal Kumar

Tamil Nadu Minister P Nirmal Kumar has accused DMK of trying to stop CM Vijay’s visit to Karur. He said that the opposition is scared of our visit, but the CM will meet the people of Karur as per the plan.

Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu) [भारत]July 8 (ANI): Tamil Nadu Minister P Nirmal Kumar on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the opposition party Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). He alleged that the party was actively trying to stop Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay’s visit to Karur after the stampede incident.

Speaking to ANI, the minister described Karur district as the site of a “lifelong tragedy” for the ruling party and said the administration was committed to visiting the area to connect with the local people. He said, “You all can see why DMK is very worried when we talk about Karur and why DMK is scared and worried whenever we say Karur. CM Vijay has every right to go to every part of Tamil Nadu. Karur is our lifelong tragedy and all those people are part of our family. We still have not come out of that tragedy.”

Questioning DMK’s resistance, Kumar said the opposition’s continued opposition to Chief Minister Vijay’s Karur visit stems from a deep fear. Rejecting the opposition, he affirmed that as the head of the state, the CM has the constitutional right to visit any part of Tamil Nadu.

He further said, “Whenever the CM plans a visit, the DMK comes forward and tries to stop it. We wanted to know what is the reason and why the DMK is very worried and scared whenever we plan a visit to Karur. They desperately wanted our leaders not to set foot in Karur at any cost. Our leaders will go as per the plan and meet the people of Karur.”

Supreme Court rejected DMK’s petition

His comments came as the Supreme Court refused to consider a petition filed by DMK organizing secretary RS Bharathi alleging attempts to influence witnesses by the accused belonging to the Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) in the Karur rally stampede case.

A bench of Justices KV Vishwanathan and Alok Aradhe allowed Bharti to withdraw the application and granted her liberty to pursue other remedies available in law. The court said, “Heard Shri Ranjit Kumar for the applicant. He is seeking to withdraw this application so as to avail other available remedies. We dismiss the application as withdrawn in the above terms.”

arguments given in court

During the hearing, the Court questioned how it could consider an application filed by a political rival seeking restrictions on public statements and other actions after the stampede investigation was handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Senior advocate Ranjit Kumar, appearing for Bharti, argued that a narrative was being created by the accused persons after the investigation was handed over to the CBI. He said that the applicant was not against compensation being paid to the victims, but he objected to the accused persons being directly involved in such actions. Kumar argued, “When the case was transferred to the CBI… I am relying on the fact that a narrative is being created by the accused persons. First of all, they are trying to give compensation. We are not against that, but the accused persons should not do it directly. They are giving statements in the press.”

The special thing is that the court also told that the Chief Minister is not an accused in this case. (ANI)
