In this match, the Indian team lost its first 3 wickets for just 53 runs. After this, Vaibhav Suryavanshi took charge of the team’s innings and scored 72 runs in 67 balls, which included 6 fours and 3 sixes. Vaibhav completed his half-century in just 30 balls, which also became a new record for the youngest person to score 50+ in the U19 World Cup. At the same time, after scoring 4 runs in this match, Vaibhav Suryavanshi left Virat Kohli behind in terms of scoring the most runs in Youth ODI.
Virat Kohli had scored 978 runs in 28 matches of his Youth ODI career, which included 6 half-centuries and 1 century. Whereas, Vaibhav Suryavanshi completed 1000+ runs in only 20 matches. With this achievement, he not only left Kohli behind, but also became the seventh Indian batsman to score 1000 runs in Youth ODI. Vaibhav now has 3 centuries and 5 half-centuries in his name. Which is an amazing performance considering his age. Earlier, in the opening match of the tournament, he was out after scoring just 2 runs against America, but he made a tremendous comeback against Bangladesh.
Will Vaibhav Suryavanshi be able to break this world record?
The world record for scoring the most runs in Youth ODI is in the name of Bangladesh’s Nazmul Hussain Shanto. Nazmul Hussain Shanto played a total of 58 Youth ODI matches and scored 1820 runs. In such a situation, Vaibhav Suryavanshi still needs 773 runs to break this world record. However, Vaibhav Suryavanshi is still only 14 years old. In such a situation, he is going to get many opportunities in the future, which can take him ahead of Nazmul Hussain Shanto.
