Bajaj Resumes Production of Chetak Electric Scooter, Assures Full Availability for Festive Season

Bajaj Auto has restarted the production of its popular Chetak electric scooter after resolving the supply chain disruptions caused by a shortage of rare-earth magnets imported from China. The company confirmed that production has now stabilized, ensuring that customers will be able to get deliveries on time during the upcoming festive season, while dealerships will also have sufficient stock.

The shortage had previously hit Bajaj hard, with Chetak production falling nearly 47 percent year-on-year to just 10,824 units in July 2025. Company officials had even warned that if supplies did not improve, production could come to a standstill in August. However, with fresh supplies now secured, shipments to dealerships have resumed, and Bajaj says it is well-prepared to meet the strong festive demand.
