The death of a newlywed in Delhi under suspicious circumstances has raised many serious questions. Following the facts revealed in the initial investigation, the claims of eyewitnesses and the allegations of dowry harassment made by the family of the deceased, the police is investigating the case from many aspects. Police have arrested the deceased’s husband on charges related to dowry death. However, the ultimate truth of the matter will become clear only after the investigation and judicial process is completed.
The person present at the scene raised many questions
The body of the deceased, Aakriti Sutar (28), was found under a building in Delhi’s Lodhi Colony area on July 4. The person who first informed the police, while talking to the media, claimed that the circumstances of the incident did not seem normal to him. According to him, the condition of the legs of the deceased was abnormal and there were no blood marks on the body.
He also raised the question as to how the deceased reached the building where the upper floors were almost empty and where people generally did not visit. He expressed apprehension that someone might have prior knowledge of this place or someone might have taken him there. These claims have not yet been independently verified by investigating agencies.
Family made allegations of dowry harassment
The deceased’s brother Amay Sutar alleged that before the marriage, both the families had agreed that Akriti would continue her job, but after the marriage, the in-laws changed their stand. He alleged that Aakriti was taunted for bringing less household items and indirectly a demand of Rs 10 to 20 lakh was being made. The family says that despite these circumstances, Aakriti was trying to improve the situation by doing a job and did not want to put a financial burden on her parents’ family.
Police investigation continues, many aspects are being investigated
Aakriti had taken some time off after marriage and started working again in a private company in South Delhi from July 1. He died suspiciously just four days later. Police have arrested husband Aristotle Sikka on charges of dowry death.
Now the investigating agencies are examining the crime scene, digital evidence, statements of witnesses and other forensic aspects. Police say that all aspects of the case are being investigated impartially and the final conclusions will be revealed only after the investigation is completed.
