Arshdeep Singh Maiden Over vs England: In the third T20 International match between India and England at the historic Trent Bridge ground in Nottingham, Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh created history with his swing and accurate bowling. In this match, Indian captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and decided to bowl first, which Arshdeep proved absolutely right in the very first over. This young left-arm fast bowler started the innings with a sensational maiden over, which created panic in the English camp. England’s dashing opener Phil Salt looked completely helpless in front of Arshdeep’s in-swing and out-swing balls in this over and could not score a single run on the first 6 balls.

Arshdeep Singh’s big blast in the very first over

Thanks to this magical over, Arshdeep Singh has achieved a very special achievement in his T20 International career. This is the second time in his career when he has bowled a maiden over in the first over of the innings. With this, he has become only the second bowler in the history of India to bowl the first over maiden more than once in T20 International cricket. In terms of bowling the first over maiden in T20 cricket for India, the name of legendary swing bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar comes at the top. Bhuvneshwar had done this unique feat 6 times in his career. Now Arshdeep Singh has done this twice and has come right behind him at second position.

Bowlers who bowled the most maiden overs in T20I for India

  • Bhuvneshwar Kumar: 6 times
  • Arshdeep Singh: 2 times
  • Harbhajan Singh: 1 time
  • Hardik Pandya: 1 time
  • Akshar Patel: 1 time
  • Deepak Chahar: 1 time
  • Mohammed Siraj: 1 time
  • Ashish Nehra: 1 time

Phil Salt did not get a chance to open his hand

The line and length with which Arshdeep Singh bowled on the Pata pitch of Trent Bridge kept Phil Salt completely tied. Usually, Salt, who attacks the bowlers from the very first over of T20, failed to sense the speed and swing of Arshdeep. Arshdeep Singh had done a similar feat in the last match also. During the second T20 match, he had conceded only 1 run in the first over and had shown the way to the pavilion to both the England openers.
