The commencement of this project will strengthen domestic manufacturing and will also help in reducing dependence on import of construction equipment. Also, new employment opportunities are expected to increase at the local level.

The company has been working in Pithampur since 2008.

LiuGong India has been operating its manufacturing unit at Pithampur since 2008. Spread over an area of over 44 acres, the existing plant has the capacity to manufacture approximately 3,000 wheel loaders and motor graders every year. The first ‘Made in India’ wheel loader was produced from this unit in the year 2009. It also operates Research and Development (R&D) centers and training centers, where more than 500 Indian professionals are employed. The company says that this unit is also strengthening the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Self-reliant India’ campaigns.

Industrial investment will get a boost

LiuGong’s construction equipment is being used in large infrastructure projects such as road construction, mining, hydropower and pipelines across the country. Currently the company has more than 4,000 pieces of equipment working in various projects.

The state government believes that the new plant to be built at Pithampur will not only meet the growing industrial demand, but will also play an important role in establishing Madhya Pradesh as a major hub of construction equipment manufacturing.
