Pench Tiger Reserve rescued tigress TUI-21, which was entering human settlements and hunting cattle. To prevent human-wildlife conflict, this tigress has been captured and left safe in the core area of the forest.
Health checkup and release of tigress
Following the rescue, a team of veterinarians conducted a detailed medical examination and found the tigress to be in excellent health and fit for release. As per National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) protocols, TUI-21 was later transferred and released in the core area of the Sillari Range, away from human settlements.
The team that carried out the successful operation
This operation was led by Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) and Chief Wildlife Warden M.S. Reddy, Field Director of Pench Tiger Reserve S. Done under the guidance of Rameshkumar and Deputy Director Akshay Gajbhiye. The field operation was led by the forest staff along with Assistant Forest Conservator Pooja Limbgaonkar, Range Forest Officers Abhijeet Mane and Nilesh Gawande, Veterinary Officer Dr Rohini Bawaskar, and Assistant Parag Bhute. Officials said this operation highlights the continuous efforts of the Pench Tiger Reserve administration to ensure the safety of both wildlife and local communities through timely intervention and scientific management of human-wildlife conflict.
