20 MoUs were signed during PM Modi’s visit to Indonesia. These include increasing cooperation in areas like BrahMos missile system, establishment of IIM Bangalore campus, defence, minerals, health and culture. The Ministry of External Affairs released the list of these historic agreements.

Many important results emerged in various fields during the state visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Indonesia. After the completion of bilateral and delegation level talks between PM Modi and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, the Ministry of External Affairs released the list of 20 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed between the two countries. These include cooperation on the BrahMos missile system and setting up a branch campus of the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore in the Singhasari Special Economic Zone (SEZ). Defense and security cooperation

MoU on cooperation in the field of technology of mineral and steel supply chain: Promotes investment in minerals and mining sector. Improves access to advanced extraction and processing technologies. Encourages joint studies and projects. Strengthens critical mineral supply chains.

Extension of MOU and Implementation Arrangements on Maritime Safety and Security Cooperation: Strengthens cooperation between the coast guards of the two countries. Improves coordination in maritime domain awareness, search and rescue and capacity building. Promotes security and freedom of navigation in the Indo-Pacific.

Collaboration on BrahMos system: Showcases the potential of the Indian defense industry. Strengthens self-reliant India and promotes indigenous defense manufacturing. Promotes innovation, global competition and exports.

Air-to-air missile cooperation agreement: Promotes India’s defense exports and ‘Make-in-India for the World’. Enhances technology cooperation and defense capabilities. Strengthens India’s indigenous missile development ecosystem.

Posting of Indonesian Liaison Officer to IFC-IOR: Enhances maritime information sharing in real time. Strengthens bilateral maritime security cooperation in the Indo-Pacific.

Industry, Technology and Innovation

MoU on Development of Rare Earth Magnets between Non-Ferrous Materials Technology Development Center (NFTDC), Midwest Limited and PT Perminas: Advances cooperation in rare earths and critical minerals. Diversification of supply chains into rare earth and critical minerals.

Strategic joint venture between Steel Authority of India (SAIL) and PT Krakatau Steel to set up stainless-steel slab manufacturing facility in Indonesia: Enhances joint production and access to technology. Promotes employment generation especially for our youth. Contributes to the goals of industrial growth and developed India.

Extension of the Framework Agreement on Cooperation in the Exploration and Uses of Outer Space for Peaceful Purposes: Promotes joint research, technology sharing and capacity building. Strengthens three decade long space partnership.

MoU on cooperation in the field of telecommunication technology and services: Improves access to advanced telecommunications technologies, including wireless and quantum systems. Supports joint innovation and technology exchange.

MoU on Research, Technology and Innovation Cooperation: Strengthens India’s innovation ecosystem by enabling collaboration in key areas. Exchanges knowledge, best practices and advances technology. Startup India Mission takes forward the startup and innovation ecosystem.

Collaboration between Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) and Indonesia Open Network (ION): Promotes collaboration in a digital public infrastructure model based on India’s ONDC architecture. Harnesses the power of India’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) to make services more accessible, efficient and inclusive for people.

Health, Agriculture and Disaster Management

MoU on cooperation in agriculture and allied sectors: Promotes cooperation in sustainable agriculture, crops, agricultural machinery etc. Promotes joint studies and research that benefit farmers. Ensures food security and higher income for farmers.

MoU between CDSCO and BPOM on cooperation in the field of regulation of medical products: Enables exchange of knowledge on global regulatory standards and best practices. Strengthens regulatory cooperation. Enhances confidence in Indian medical products and supports market access in Indonesia.

MoU between National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and National Disaster Management Agency of Indonesia: Promotes sharing of best practices in disaster management. Promotes the use of technology-based applications for early warning and risk assessment. Improves coordination in disaster response and recovery.

Implementation Arrangements on Health Workforce Collaboration: Offers fellowship programs for health professionals. Promotes the mobility of qualified health professionals by providing access to work in Indonesia. Promotes practical clinical training in specific medical areas.

Supply of 100 tons high quality DWR 162 wheat seeds to Indonesia: Supports the food security of Indonesia and the Global South. Advances comprehensive engagement in developing resilient and sustainable agricultural cooperation.

Cultural, educational and electoral cooperation

India’s assistance for conservation and restoration of Prambanan Temple Complex, Yogyakarta, ‘Development as well as Heritage’: Advances the conservation of common heritage. Strengthens India’s cultural diplomacy and showcases its expertise in heritage conservation and preserving shared civilizational heritage.

Commemoration of Tagore-Devantara Year of Cultural and Educational Diplomacy: Celebrates the enduring shared educational vision of Rabindranath Tagore and Indonesia’s Ki Hajar Deutara. Marks the centenary of Rabindranath Tagore’s 1927 visit to Indonesia through a year-long program of joint cultural, educational, academic and people-to-people initiatives.

Establishment of branch campus of Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore at Singhasari SEZ, Indonesia: Reflects India’s academic excellence globally. Strengthens India’s reputation as a knowledge hub.

MoU between Election Commission of India (ECI) and General Election Commission of Indonesia (KPU): Facilitates sharing of knowledge, experience and best practices. Advances cooperation in the use of technology for human resource development and efficient administrative practices.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto held official talks and reviewed the entire spectrum of India-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. This includes trade and investment, defense and security, maritime cooperation, energy, healthcare and pharma, space, critical minerals and rare earths, culture, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.
