India readies evacuation plan to bring citizens home safely from Iran amid unrest

New Delhi: The central government is moving quickly to evacuate Indian nationals stranded in Iran as concerns grow over safety amid ongoing unrest. The sources say preparations are at an advanced stage with the first batch of evacuees likely to be flown out as early as tomorrow, depending on clearance and conditions on the ground.

Families of Indian students studying in Iran have been informed to stay ready. Parents told CNN-News18 that students were asked to assemble by 8 am and keep passports, visas and other travel documents prepared. The authorities are also working on finalising a passenger list while approvals are being coordinated between Indian and Iranian officials.

The government sources revealed that the situation is being monitored closely and plans are being adjusted in real time. The officials stressed that the focus is to ensure that Indians who want to return are able to do so safely and without panic.
