CM Mohan Yadav All-Party Meeting: Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav organized an all-party meeting. During this period, 27 percent OBC reservation was discussed, in which the opposition agreed.

OBC Reservation Supreme Court Hearing: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav took a big step in Madhya Pradesh on 28 August about 27 percent OBC reservation. The CM today called an all -party meeting at the Chief Minister’s residence regarding this matter. During this time it was decided that 27 percent OBC reservation will be given in the state at any cost. All parties appeared unanimous on this issue without any debate. Not only this, in this all-party meeting, all the opposition and opposition also passed the resolution. After the meeting, CM Dr. Yadav said that the government had called an all -party meeting today. In this meeting, the Communist Party of India, Aam Aadmi Party, Samajwadi Party, Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party appeared. Together we all discussed the case going on in the Supreme Court regarding OBC reservation in the state. We all have the feeling that 27 percent OBC reservation in the state should be given.

Talking about this entire matter, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that along with BJP-Congress, all opposition parties have clarified in their respective assembly that we are all standing together to give 27 percent reservation. The Supreme Court is going to be heard daily from September 22. Since, different lawyers are fighting in the court, now the important thing is that all the lawyers sit in this matter and decide that everyone has to walk together. We have also passed all -party resolution today. In this, we have decided that we all should be one regarding OBC reservation and come to the same forum. All the lawyers should sit together before September 10 and discuss this episode.

CM Dr. Yadav said that out of the hold-unloaded candidates, 14 percent of the candidates were cleared, but 13 percent is pending. The Supreme Court will resolve it as soon as possible. We all want the case of 13 percent of the children to be resolved soon, so that the candidates who are out of age limit will also get the benefit. He also got a job. The government has recruited in the departments where there was no reservation. But, we all parties want no child to be deprived of jobs.

What happened so far

– On 8 March 2019, the Madhya Pradesh government has replaced “27 percent” in place of “other backward class 14 percent” through the ordinance by the Madhya Pradesh government.

– On 14 August 2019, the Order was given the form of the Act in the Assembly.

– On December 24, 2019, a new roster was issued by the government.

On 19 March 2019, in the Madhya Pradesh government case against Ashita Dubey, instructions were given to not provide more than 14 percent reservation on an admission on admission to medical college.

– On 4 May 2022, a adjournment order was issued by the High Court Jabalpur in the Shivam Gautam vs. Madhya Pradesh regime.

– In 40 other petitions, advertisements published with 27 percent reservation (MPPSC, PEB, TET etc.) were banned

– The implementation of 27 percent of other backward class reservation provided due to the location order issued on roster notification and other interim orders issued from time to time was not possible.

– Currently the final hearing in the highest court is scheduled to start from 22 September 2025.

– State government’s efforts in reservation side*

-The government consolidated the WP No. -25181/2019, WP No.-8923/2020 and 40 other petitions with WP 5901/2019 in the High Court Jabalpur.

Instructions were issued by the General Administration Department to declare the examination results in two parts, final results on 87 percent posts and 13 percent posts to resolve the situation arising due to the location order issued on roster notification and other interim orders issued from time to time.

– On 2 September 2021, Madhya Pradesh Backward Classes Welfare Commission was formed.

– The objectives of the Madhya Pradesh Backward Class Welfare Commission include social, educational and economic status of backward classes, study of reasons for backwardness of this class, coronation of extraordinary conditions.

– On 5 May 2022, the first report was presented to the Madhya Pradesh government by the Madhya Pradesh Backward Class Welfare Commission and the second report on 12 May 2022.

– In the case of Suresh Mahajan vs. Madhya Pradesh Government WP 278/2022, permission was given by the Supreme Court on 18 May 2022 in the local election (rural and urban bodies), with reservation of Other Backward Classes (up to 35 percent). This was an unprecedented step for the political representation of the Other Backward Classes.

– On 16 February 2023, the Hon’ble High Court described the above 87 % -13 % formula in the case of WP No. 24847/2022 (Harishankar Barodhiya vs. MP) case.
