Fisheries investment agreement worth Rs 7,430 crore was signed in Madhya Pradesh in the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav. With this, a target of 35 thousand employment, 4 lakh tonne additional fish production and export of Rs 6 thousand crore has been set.
Bhopal. A big step has been taken towards giving a new direction to fisheries and related industries in Madhya Pradesh. An investment and buy-back agreement worth Rs 7,430 crore was signed between Kuwait’s leading fisheries company Zabedi Al Kuwait Fisheries Company and Indore-based Kamdars Care on July 6 in the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav. This agreement has been made under Madhya Pradesh Integrated Fisheries Policy-2026.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that the state government is continuously working to strengthen the economic condition of farmers and fishermen. Under Kisan Kalyan Varsh, special encouragement is being given to income enhancing activities like farming along with animal husbandry and fisheries. He said that the government has special attention on better utilization and management of ponds and reservoirs of the state.
Preparation to give international recognition to Madhya Pradesh in fisheries
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that along with agriculture, fisheries can also become a strong medium to increase the income of farmers and fishermen community. Thousands of families of the state are dependent on fisheries and keeping their interests in mind, a strategy has been made to take this sector to international level through Madhya Pradesh Integrated Fisheries Policy-2026. He said that this investment agreement between Kuwait’s leading company and Kamdars Care will create new opportunities in the field of fisheries, exports and fishermen’s welfare in the state.
MP’s reservoirs will become a big center of fish production
The Chief Minister said that sufficient water resources are available for fisheries in Madhya Pradesh. Ponds and large reservoirs of the state can play an important role in increasing fish production. This will not only meet the food needs of the country but will also give a new impetus to fish exports.
He said that Kuwait is a friendly country of India and the Madhya Pradesh government is working with full commitment to bring foreign investment to the ground. For this reason, positive results of investment have also started becoming visible. In the coming time, Madhya Pradesh will be included among the leading states of the country in the field of fisheries industry.
Target to produce 4 lakh tonnes of additional fish from cage culture
During the agreement, information was given that under Madhya Pradesh Integrated Fisheries Industry Policy-2026, private and foreign investment is being promoted to develop modern, export-oriented and value-added fisheries industry. Under this investment, modern infrastructure based on backward and forward linkage along with cage culture will be developed in Indira Sagar, Bargi, Bansagar and Barna reservoirs. Due to this, there is a possibility of additional fish production of about 4 lakh tonnes in the state.
Aquaponics and hydroponics will produce 1.23 lakh tonnes of vegetables
Aquaponics, hydroponics and green house technology will also be used under this project along with fisheries. With the help of these modern technologies, it is estimated that about 1 lakh 23 thousand tonnes of vegetables will be produced in the state. This project will create new income opportunities for farmers and entrepreneurs by integrating agriculture and fisheries.
35 thousand people will get employment, export target of 6 thousand crores
According to the government, this ambitious project will create 15 thousand direct and 20 thousand indirect employment opportunities in the state. Apart from this, a target of export of fish worth about Rs 6 thousand crore has been set from Madhya Pradesh. The government believes that this investment will directly benefit the fishing community of the state and will increase economic activities in the fishing industry on a large scale.
Initiative to make Madhya Pradesh a national hub of fisheries investment and export
This agreement is being considered an important step towards making Madhya Pradesh the leading fishery investment and export center of the country. Zebedi Al-Kuwait Fisheries Company has a strong trading network of premium quality food, packaged food products and spices in more than 10 countries. At the same time, Kamdars Care is a cluster based business organization, which works for the formation of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPO) and expanding their business. This organization is also recognized under Startup India.
