District Magistrate Nidhi Gupta Vats said that on the occasion of Uttar Pradesh Day-2026, a blackout mock drill will be organized on January 23, the birthday of Subhash Chandra Bose.

Participation of all departments will be ensured in this program. An action plan will be prepared after selecting locations for blackout mock drill. For this, volunteers will also be identified and an officer from each department will be made the nodal.

In the meeting of officials of all departments in the Collectorate Auditorium on Wednesday, the District Magistrate said that arrangements for drones should be made for the mock drill. Awareness campaign should be conducted in all schools and colleges. One place each should be selected in the bodies. The program should be publicized at Gram Panchayat sites by identifying the respective Aapda Mitras as sectors along with Nav Yuvak Mangal Dal.

Anganwadi workers will also make women aware at the village level. Sirens will be sounded to warn of air raids. After this, the electricity system of all the areas will be disrupted and blackout will be done and all the citizens will have to take shelter by lying on the ground. As soon as the air strike ends, sirens will be sounded in all clear sound.

Do this during a blackout

  1. When the air raid siren sounds, peacefully take shelter in your safe place.
  2. Avoid rumors and follow the instructions given by the administration.
  3. Cooperate with civil defense volunteers and local administration.

  5. Don’t panic. Make children and the entire family aware.
  6. Listen to government alerts on mobile or radio.
  7. Get information about safe shelter and bunkers.
  8. Keep a strong windowless room ready in your house.

  10. Keep essential items ready. Like drinking water for at least three days.
  11. Dry food (biscuit dry food etc.).
  12. Keep a first aid kit, torch and extra cells.
  13. Keep important documents like ID, medical report etc. safe.
  14. Place thick curtains and black paper on the windows.
  15. Stay away from the mirror, lie down on the ground.
