Pradosh Vrat 2026: Pradosh fast is considered very special in Sanatan Dharma. Two Pradosh fasts are observed every month. The first on the Trayodashi date of Krishna Paksha and the second on the Trayodashi date of Shukla Paksha. Pradosh Vrat is known by the name of the day when this fast falls. When is Pradosh Vrat? (When is Pradosh Vrat 2026)
According to the Panchang, the Trayodashi date of Krishna Paksha of Magh month is starting at 08:16 pm on 15 January 2026. This date is going to last till 10:21 pm on 16 January 2026. In such a situation, according to Udaya Tithi, Pradosh Vrat will be observed on 16 January 2026. This day is Friday, hence this Shukra Pradosh fast will be observed.
Pradosh Vrat Puja Auspicious time (Pradosh Vrat 2026 Puja Muhurat)
On the day of Pradosh fast, the auspicious time of worship during Pradosh period will start at 05.45 pm. This auspicious time will last till 08.25 pm. Lord Shiva can be worshiped formally in this auspicious time.
Pradosh Vrat Puja Vidhi
On the day of Pradosh fast, take bath in the morning and sprinkle Ganga water in the house. For worship in the evening during Pradosh period, spread a red colored cloth on a clean platform. Establish the entire Shiva family along with Mahadev on it. Then offer garlands of flowers to everyone. Anoint Shivalinga with pure water, milk, curd, ghee, honey, jaggery and sugar. Offer 11 Bilva leaves to Mahadev. Chant Om Namah Shivay mantra and apply sandalwood on Shivalinga. Offer fruits. Recite the story of Pradosh Vrat. Finally, end the puja by performing Aarti of Mahadev.
