All four Indian golfers Diksha, Aditi, Avni and Pranavi have made the cut in the ongoing Hullencourt Women’s Open in Belgium. Diksha Dagar remains in the race for the title with joint third and Aditi Ashok at eighth place.
Vieux Genappe [बेल्जियम]July 5 (ANI): The entire Indian contingent will be in action at the Hullencourt Women’s Open over the weekend. All four women golfers from the country have easily made the halfway cut, with Diksha Dagar and Aditi Ashok leading the Indian challenge in Belgium.
Diksha and Aditi in the race for the title
Diksha, who had started the day with joint lead, remained in good shape despite losing a few shots in the last few holes. With a score of par-72 in the second round, he is at four-under 140 and joint third. She is just five strokes behind new leader Carolina Chakara of Spain with two rounds left to play. The Indian left-hander golfer looked set to retain her place at the top after a steady round with three birdies. However, two bogeys at the end of the day prevented him from matching Chakara’s impressive lead. Despite this, Diksha remains firmly in the race for her third Ladies European Tour title. This is another proof of his excellent performance this season.
Aditi Ashok also strengthened India’s challenge with another composed performance. Returning to the Ladies European Tour this week, the veteran star added to her first-round score of 70 with a one-under 71 on the second day. She has moved up to eighth place with a total of three-under and is not far away from the leaders. Aditi’s scorecard shows excellent control rather than aggression. He carded the only birdie and finished the rest of the course with 17 par, avoiding costly mistakes as he entered the weekend full of confidence.
Avni and Pranavi also made the cut
India’s spectacular week was not limited to just its two leading stars. Avni Prashant showed great fighting spirit and kept herself in the top-20. Starting from the 10th tee, Avani faced a difficult start and slipped to two-over after a double bogey on the par-four 16th hole. But he did not give up and made a brilliant comeback, scoring three birdies against only one bogey in his last seven holes. With a score of par-72 for the second consecutive day, he is at even-par in the tournament and is ranked 18th.
Pranavi Urs completed a perfect week for the Indian team by staying on the cut line. After scoring 73 in the first round, he struggled in the second round with a difficult score of 76 and finished at five-over, just shy of the cut line. She reached the last two rounds finishing joint 56th.
Spain’s Carolina Chakara took the lead
While the Indian quartet collectively enjoyed a successful day, Spain’s Carolina Chakara came out on top with the best round of the tournament. The 23-year-old player shot an impressive seven-under 65 without any mistakes and moved to nine-under overall. He has taken a two-shot lead into the weekend. Playing only her second Ladies European Tour event this season, Chakara made seven birdies without missing a single shot and moved into a strong position.
The Spaniard has drawn inspiration from his brother, Eugenio Chakara, whose victories on the DP World Tour—including the Indian Open in 2025—have made for a memorable run for this golfing family.
Australia’s Kelsey Bennett finished second at seven-under after shooting a five-under 67. Diksha shared the third position with Switzerland’s Morgan Matroux, South Africa’s Nadia van der Westhuizen, England’s Bronte Law and Ireland’s Anna Foster, who climbed up the leaderboard with a score of three-under 69. Aditi was tied eighth with Thailand’s Trichat Chenglab, while New Zealand’s Momoka Kobori and Australia’s Kirsten Rudgeley remained in the top ten at two-under.
With 70 players having progressed to the next round after the cut was set at five-over par, India are in a great position heading into the deciding weekend. Diksha remains the country’s strongest title contender; Aditi is also close enough to pose a serious challenge. (ANI)
